SHOT OF TEQUILA by J. A. Konrath

Book description

Shot of Tequila takes place in the early 1990s, and is both an homage to and a re-envisioning of classic action novels by authors like Mickey Spillane, Ross MacDonald, Donald Westlake, and Elmore Leonard, but with a more modern twist.

The breakneck action is intercut with scenes featuring Konrath's series hero Jack Daniels, here as a supporting character chasing the main protagonist.

Edge-of-your-seat suspense, non-stop action, and dark humor punctuate this heist novel/fugitive-on-the-run thriller. Fans of Konrath's police procedurals will enjoy the slight departure from his normal writing style, while still finding familiarity with the setting and characters.

Shot Of Tequila is approximately 75,000 words, formatted for ereaders.

In Konrath's latest Jack Daniels thrill- er, Tequila Abernathy is a collector for lo- cal bookie "Marty the Maniac," who al- ways manages to get along with his vola- tile boss. That is, until several million dollars of Marty's money go missing and Tequila is framed for the theft. Now Marty is putting all of his resources into retrieving his cash and killing Tequila. But Tequila isn't so easy to dispatch, and soon he's out for vengeance himself. In addition to Marty and his army of thugs, Tequila must contend with Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels, the determined homicide detective who wants to catch him and curb the rapidly growing body count. It will be clear to listeners that narrator Luke Daniels had a great time recording this action-packed thriller. He keeps the story moving at breakneck speed, while at the same time bringing to life the book's diverse cast of charactersâespecially good are his renditions of the multilayered Tequila and Daniels. Luke Daniels's en- thusiastic narration is contagious and he easily pulls the listener into this violent but enjoyable roller-coaster ride. A CreateSpace paperback. (July)â¨â¨
